No. 514 is a quarter-brogue Oxford in black. Its distinctive patterns of perforation hearken back to the Scottish and Irish shepherds of yore, who perforated the entire uppers of their shoes. This was a necessary measure in the swampy Highlands of their home countries, as it allowed their frequently-soaked shoes to dry out more quickly. Today, though, broguing serves a merely decorative purposeāit creates a stylish and elegant look.
